7 tabs & typographicals

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

The tabs are there to help imediate navigation, except that the don’t seem to. Hmm. These will be redone to ensure they work across the site.

The masthead has been developed, but it would be good to have photo(s) in the background.

On to the navigation of the permanent pages down the righthandside of the page - proving to be nightmarish complexity of coding variety.

The Big Green Masthead

Tuesday, March 7th, 2006

So it is green, so it has a big riverine ampersand with the suggestion of a coastline at the bottom, so there’s some gaelic terminology … a starter for ten. I suspect we will eventually have this type over pictures of Glendaruel and Colintraive – who knows?

Navigating

Monday, March 6th, 2006

The sheer amount of material culled from the live incarnation of the ColGlen site presents a problem in itself - how to provide a level of adequate navigation for it without completely overwhelming the user? We’re working on it. At the moment our interim solution is a little temperamental and more or less all or nothing. This will change as we develop the layout more. Two sidebars - one down each side looks favourite at the moment. Comments welcome!

Upload is not working

Sunday, March 5th, 2006

Because this is a beta on a stop-gap server, the upload isn’t working. This means you can’t publish pictures with your posts as yet. It is only a matter of time.

I’ll update this post when and as it is working.

If I want to add an event to the calendar what do I do?

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

First you need to register. To do this email Charles.

Second you need to go to this link and login with the username and password you received from Charles.

Click on “Write>Write Post” and type the title of your post in the Title box and as much info as you need to in the “Post” box. Format as you see fit.

Then click on Categories to the right of the “Post” box and select “Diary” (This may already be selected by default).

Next, click on “Post Timestamp” and select the date and time the event is to occur. Make sure you click on the “Edit timestamp” box.
Lastly, click on “Publish”

You are done. Now view the site and see if your event has been listed on the calendar. If not, return to the admin section and click on “Manage>Edit” and see what you missed!
